| What are the benefits of natural dying leather that we use? |
We use exclusively non-toxic, naturally dyed leather from Europe in the production of our shoes. The leather is extremely soft and supple. To color we use purely natural ingredients such as rhubarb, Mediterranean oak and other natural dyes. The leather has a certificate from ECARF (European Center for Allergy Research Foundation) and the International Association Natural Textile Industry. Our shoes can be worn barefoot and are also suitable for allergy sufferers and sensitive children's skin. The surface of the leather is clean, without treatment with any chemical impregnations, thanks to which its excellent breathability is guaranteed. The manufacturer of the leather focuses on low emissions, compliance with social standards and meets the highest standards of environmentally friendly production. |
| What can leather dyed with heavy metals and chromium cause? |
80 to 90% of leather used in world production is dyed with chromium, which oxidizes to highly toxic chromium VI in an uncontrolled process. As one of the most common causes of skin diseases, it can cause an irritating and allergic skin reaction. Although the presence of chromium is tested and generally considered harmless, the toxic version of chromium can be activated by the presence of sweat. Heavy metals are inherently toxic in various ways even at low concentrations, making it difficult to define a safety level. Heavy metals are not degradable into harmless components and thus have a long-term impact on human health and the environment. |
| Why are there small bumps, patterns and stains on some MOE shoes? | One of the signs of naturally dyed leather is small bumps and leather marks. This makes it easy to distinguish naturally dyed leather from industrially dyed leather on which these irregularities are smoothed out. We do not cover this nature of leather. Naturally dyed leather works over time and acquires a rather pronounced patina. |
| How to care for MOE leather shoes? |
Our footwear is intended for indoor and outdoor use. We recommend avoiding humid environments. If the shoes get wet, line the inside with tissue paper or paper towels and let them dry at room temperature. Any stiffness in the shoe should loosen with repeated wear. If soiled clean the shoes with a soft piece of cloth. Stronger dirt can be removed with a soft brush. Let the suede parts of the shoes dry first. To clean these parts use a suede brush to remove surface dirt. |
| Why should I choose shoes with soft soles? |
During the period when the child is learning to walk it is important to wear sufficiently flexible with soft soles and without heels. Soft-soled footwear provides strengthening of the muscles in the feet and around the ankles and promotes the development of foot coordination function. This is not possible in shoes with hard soles. Consequences of wearing tight shoes that restrict the natural foot shaping in infancy can have a lasting effect on back and muscle development. A child's foot develops best when walking barefoot, which is the closest thing to wearing flexible leather shoes with soft soles. MOE shoes have a modified sole cut to follow the natural shape of the foot. This allows the leather to work and stretch evenly along the length of the toes. The soft leather allows the foot to grow and leaves enough room for natural development. |
| What kind of leather are MOE shoes made of? | One of our priorities is to work with the highest quality and safest materials possible. That's why we at MOE decided to sew shoes from non-toxic naturally dyed environmentally friendly leather. Our leather is certified and suitable for allergy sufferers. | How many layers does MOE shoe sole have? | The shoe has a three-layer sole. The inner part of the sole is made of soft naturally colored chipboard which comes into direct contact with the skin inside the shoe. The inner 2 mm thin insert ensures thermal insulation and absorbs shocks on harder surfaces. On the bottom of the shoe there is a sole made of brushed natural dyed leather. |
| How to correctly measure the length and width of a child's leg? | Place your foot on the paper, ideally with a solid object behind the heel and trace the foot. Each leg can have different lengths. By measuring the farthest points on the paper, you get the length, and by measuring the widest part, you get the width of the child's foot. |
| How to choose the right shoe size? |
Our shoes are currently available in four, respectively five sizes (depending on the specific model). It is intended for children from birth to the age of approximately 3-4 years. Since every child is different, we recommend measuring your foot and following our size chart. We do not recommend choosing a shoe size based only on age or standardized sizes provided by shoe manufacturers. We recommend adding at least 1.2 cm to the measured leg length to get the appropriate length of MOE shoes. For smaller children who have not started to crawl or climb yet 1 cm of length addition is enough. The inner length and width of the shoe, given in the size chart, determines the length and width of its inner insole in cm. |
| What width are MOE shoes? |
MOE shoes vary in width depending on the model. Every child is different, so we recommend measuring the width of your child's foot. In our shoes, children can tolerate an extra 0.5-0.7 cm in width. The clearance in the width allows free movement of the toes, thus ensuring sufficient space for the foot development. You can refer to our size chart. If you are not sure, contact us at info@moe4kids.com and we will advise you on choosing the right size. |
| Will the shoe stay on the child's foot even with the required extra centimeters? | We sew an elastic band in the ankle area of the shoe which makes it easier to put them on and ensures the shoes do not come off at the same time. If the elastic band around the ankle is looser you can adjust it and narrow it with a few stitches. If you need help we will narrow the rubber band free of charge upon request. |
| Are MOE shoes suitable for outdoor wear? | Yes it is suitable for indoor and outdoor wear. It can be used all year round yet we recommend wearing it only in dry weather. Leather changes its texture and color when soaked in water. Naturally dyed leather is not chemically impregnated and therefore it is more prone to discoloration when wet. The shoes are not intended for walking on sharp surfaces and rough terrain. |

| Where are MOE shoes, knee high socks and leggings made? | All of our footwear is designed hand cut and sewn in Slovakia. The knee high socks are designed and woven in Slovakia. The leggings are designed in Slovakia and woven in the Czech Republic. Each manufactured pair is checked by us before being put on the market. |
| What are MOE products packaged in? |
Each pair of shoes is packed in a reusable cloth bag. The knee high socks are wrapped in a paper bag or tissue paper. The product is then packaged and shipped in predominantly recyclable paper packaging or a 100% compostable custom-designed envelope that was made for us within the EU. We print labels and business cards on ecological paper which consists of up to 30% recycled fibers. Natural ingredients such as almonds or corn leave a distinct texture on the paper and give it a unique look. We have replaced thank you cards with stamps or you can find our thanks for your purchase printed directly on a compostable envelope. |
| Is it possible to exchange / return the goods? | Unworn and undamaged goods can be returned without giving a reason within 14 working days from the day of receiving the goods. For more information see Article 8 of our Terms and Conditions and the Returns, Exchanges and Claims section. Upon mutual agreement, unworn and undamaged goods can be exchanged.
